Who We Are
The Cambodian English Project (CEP) is the first project of Hands Across the Pacific a non-profit short-term Christian Mission organization created in response to a modern day Macedonian call, “..............’Come over to Cambodia and help us’...” to teach English in the province of Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia. The purpose is to use English instruction as an evangelistic bridge in local communities and as a tool to economic growth for the church body.
HAP is also committed to involve churches and individuals directly in a church to church mission project. This would show Cambodian Christians they matter to God and His Church, and would provide a direct service for believers from around the country. Hands Across the Pacific is designed to recruit couples and individuals, and is open to people of any age who desire to minister in Cambodia using the English language as a “door opener” to sharing the Gospel. While there is no salary or pay, the rewards are very tangible. Cambodians from many walks of life become fast friends. Local churches have grown. Some have more than doubled in less than two years. Both the Churches and the Centers have had a real impact in the city and the surrounding countryside. This short term opportunity has another benefit. It could be the first step in leading and preparing people for full time Christian service either in Cambodia or some other country.
There is a sense of urgency here since Cambodia is a Communist country and the door is wide open at this time with few restrictions on the presentation of the Gospel.
The challenge we face comes straight from the Word of God, “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” Galatians 6:10 NASB
